Imperial Hotel has announced it will open a new property in Kyoto, its first new hotel in 30 years. The hotel will occupy the restored Yasaka Kaikan, a 1936 building in the Gion district registered as a national cultural property. The project, led by construction firm Obayashi Corporation, preserves much of the original structure, including over 16,000 exterior tiles.
